Almost everyone spoke very good English so it was easy to navigate and communicate. So much fun! We stayed in Praha (Prag) 3, which was located right by Lipanská rail station. 24-hour rail tickets were 110Kč ($5.04USD, €4.26EUR). Spent the afternoon at Czech Beer Museum, which includes a history tour, four .25L tastings, and bottling & labeling your own beer. Dinner was at PUB 1 in Praha 1. Reservation is definitely recommended! Seated at a table with a personal beer tap. All PUB location's tables continuously compete for the most beer drank. Often it is a reserve of natural, semi-natural, or developed land that a sovereign state declares or owns. Although individual nations designate their own national parks differently, there is a common idea: the conservation of wild nature for posterity and as a symbol of national pride. An international organization, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and its World Commission on Protected Areas, has defined "National Park" as its Category II type of protected areas. While this type of national park had been proposed previously, the United States established the first "public park or pleasuring-ground for the benefit and enjoyment of the people", Yellowstone National Park, in 1872. Although Yellowstone was not officially termed a "national park" in its establishing law, it was always termed such in practice and is widely held to be the first and oldest national park in the world. Some would say that the first official national park to be designated as such at its creation was Mackinac Island, legislated in 1875. Australia's Royal National Park, established in 1879, was the world's third official national park. In 1895 ownership of Mackinac Island was transferred to the State of Michigan as a state park and national park status was consequently lost. As a result Australia's Royal National Park is by some considerations the second oldest national park now in existence. The largest national park in the world meeting the IUCN definition is the Northeast Greenland National Park, which was established in 1974. According to the IUCN, 6,555 national parks worldwide met its criteria in 2006. IUCN is still discussing the parameters of defining a national park. National parks are almost always open to visitors. Most national parks provide outdoor recreation and camping opportunities as well as classes designed to educate the public on the importance of conservation and the natural wonders of the land in which the national park is located. If you have only 48 hours in this town, let me show you what you can do! Amongst the most famous attractions is the Charles Bridge. Back in the days, the most important connection between Prague Castle and the Old Town. It’s protected by bridge towers and decorated with an alley of 30 statues and a whole lot of merchandising and tourists. Yeah, it’s a busy bridge! If you want it more for yourself, you best arrive extremely early in the morning. Going west on the bridge, you’ll end up in Prague Castle. The largest ancient castle in the world. The first walled building was created in 870. Now there are Churches, Palaces, Towers, Gardens and Halls. Yes, multiple of everything! It’s quite impressive. You could easily spend your whole here, and still you won’t see everything there is. Between the Charles Bridge and Prague Castle is this colourful creation. And even today this wall is still alive, with lots of people writing their messages of love and peace on it. You could visit year after year, and get a different colors all the time. If you want to see more local places and check out the artistic, underground scene, you should sign up for an Alternative Prague Walking Tour. One of the highlights of our stay definitely. Go beyond the beaten paths, and find some spots you probably wouldn’t have stumbled upon yourself. I liked this tour so much I’ll make a separate video about it. Check it out in the upper right corner! And then there is food! If you’re a foodie, you’ll be very happy in Prague! Let me show you some of my favorite places. And to make it easy I also put a little map down in the descriptionbox. Of course we couldn’t leave Prague without seeing the Astronomical clock on the old town square. Ending the day with a beer in Letna Park. A good view to end our stay in Prague! Next week we continue east. To Brno, Oloumouc and Ostrava. Amazing weekend trip to the capital city in Czech Republic. This major tourist city is filled with beautiful architect and amazing food. There is a widescreen showing the top competitors. Beer and food was cheap! All ordering is done through a self-service ordering tablet. The second day was spent at Beerland Spa, located in Praha 1. Reservations are required. Private room included in your reservation, along with a 25 minute heated beer bath and 20 minute relaxation on the hay bed with unlimited beer. Complimentary homemade bread with yummy pork crackle spread is included as well. There is a private bathroom with shower available. We picked U Supa because all other locations were booked. Serves common Czech dishes. We ordered Piquant matured Olomouc cheese with butter and mustard for an appetizer (Pikantní zrající olomoucké tvarůžky s máslem a hořčicí); pork chop baked with viscid beer sauce (Vepřová kotleta zapečená lepkavou pivní omáčkou) and wild boar spicy goulash with home-made mushroom dumplings (Řízný guláš z kance s domácím houbovým knedlíkem) for main dishes. We had a yummy dessert at Trdelník & Coffee. A home-made, churro-like cone filled with vanilla ice cream. Before our trip home, we got a Kebab Box filled with döner kebab meat, cabbage, and sour cream-like dressing. Thank you, Bus2Alps student travel company, for sending me on a weekend trip to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. I wasn't sure what to expect from this city, but I was pleasantly surprised with all of the history and fun times that it showed me. A bit of an off-kilter place in my opinion, but interesting nonetheless!
